The Tibetan partner for this project is the Mayul (Qinghai) Gesar Foundation for Virtuous Activity, one of the first charities operated by Tibetans in Qingai Province China.

Hungkar Dorje
Hungkar Dorje, the Tibetan president of the Gesar Foundation was born in Qinghai in 1969, and recognized early in his life by such Buddhist masters as H.H. Orgyen Kusum Lingpa, H.H. Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche, and later by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, as the reincarnation of Do Khyentse Yeshe Dorje, the mind emanation of the great Nyingma Dzogchen Master Jigme Lingpa.
He completed his early education in Buddhist Philosophy with his father Orgyen Kusum Lingpa, H.H. Dodrupchen, Penor Rinpoche, and Akong Khenpo. From 1990-94 he studied at Drepung Monastery in India, graduating at the top of his class with the degree of Geshe (Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy).
Since 1994, he has served as the abbot of Thubten Chokor Ling Monastery, responsible for the education of 1,000 monks and nuns. He has helped designed and oversaw construction of the Great Stupa for World Peace, one of the largest stupas in the world. He founded the Dharma Institute a nine-year advanced Buddhist training program for lay people. In 2005, he founded the first Buddhist nunnery in Golok.
Besides supporting the Mayul School, the Gesar Foundation serves the elderly and disabled communities in Golok with numerous projects, promotes proper environmental stewardship of the fragile ecosystem and range land in Golok, and works to preserve Tibetan culture.
